Declan Rice stole an Arsenal show last night.
But there were Arsenal heroes in almost every position, and another player who really stepped up in this big game was 18-year-old Miles Lewis Skelly.
Gunners Wonderkid only made his debut for the club earlier this season, but quickly established himself as a key player on the side of Mikel Arteta.
Lewis Skelly has already made it to the English team, scoring in his national team debut last month.
It’s the season to remember for Lewis Skelly, and he gave another absolutely amazing performance last night against the best clubside in the world.
Arsenal’s incredible statistics against Miles Louis Skelly’s incredible Real Madrid
For some of the numbers Lewis-Skelly produced last night, his performance is almost certainly better than the two-goal hero rice… see below…
The teenager got 100% of the tackles, completed 100% of the dribble, had two important passes and one assist, and one assist when setting up Mikel Merino on his third goal in the evening.
But that’s more than Lewis Skelly’s numbers, and he’s also just a joy to see him in such a confident way of carrying the ball.
And for a very young man, he plays with incredible calm and always seems to have acquired a place for his decision-making.
Arsenal fans will be pleased that their academy can produce such a great player that is already very important to the senior side.
It will be interesting to see how Louis Skelly and others can play when they take on Real Madrid, with a completely different challenge in Game 2 at the Bernabeu next week.
