Vinc Pichel calls it a career as a professional mixed martial artist.
The 12-match UFC veteran announced his retirement from the MMA competition at the age of 41. Picchel ended his combat career with three skids, including a deciding loss to Rafa Garcia in the final match at UFC Mexico in March.
“There’s a lot to say,” Pichelle wrote on Instagram. “Short version: I’m 42 and I’m officially retired from competing in MMA.
“Long version: I’m sad, I’m excited, I’m happy, I’m afraid. I’m grateful to me or everyone who was with me or part of my MMA career. …It meant the world to me.
“I will still post using this and my other accounts, and I am also planning on using it to write a book about my MMA journey with photos and videos that no one has ever seen before!
“So I think it is. I leave this to you as I leave: don’t apologise for you, you won’t learn what you can from those you can, you have no regrets, and most importantly, enjoy it!”
Pichelle began the UFC run as a castmate in Season 15 of Ultimate Fighter, winning two matches at TUF House before losing to Al-Aquinta. After losing his official UFC debut to Rustam Khabilov in December 2012, Pichel won seven of his next eight matches, including the deciding victory over Jim Miller at UFC 252 in August 2020.
“From Hell” went 7-5 as a UFC fighter, and his final victory came in August 2021 through a decision against Austin Hubbard at UFC Vegas 34.
