The fullbacks of today’s games must be as good offensive as they are defensive. Modern managers want to see the pitch high in the final third.

But it wasn’t always like that, and we’ve seen some great nonsense left back since 1992. But who is the best left-back in Premier League history?

Aleksandar Kolarov

Man City

Serbian left-back Alexander Kolov spent seven years in Man City, winning two Premier League title titles, proven to be worth a £16 million relocation fee.

Korolaf was a strong fullback who looked more like a centre-back than a left-back, and was able to move forward, and he also had to do free-kick missions, scoring goals in all his top flight seasons at Etihad.

Phil Neville

Man Utd, Everton

A proper Premier League “Barclaysman”, Phil Neville played as a right back and could embrace a midfielder or left back, and was a very reliable performer for both Man UTD and Everton.

After winning six titles at Old Trafford, Neville moved to Goodison Park along with Toffee, continuing to be a solid option at fullback, with Everton reaching over 500 Premier League appearances and captaining.

Michael Silvestle

Mikael Silvestre is regularly used as the left back by ir Alex Ferguson between 1999 and 2008, as Man UTD has many world-class options to choose from at centre back.

The French were able to play there for his pace, winning four Premier League titles at Old Trafford, and Ferguson called Sylvestore “a great servant and a great expert.”

Gabriel Heinze

Another man left back, Gabriel Heinze’s days at Old Trafford were short but sweet, and eventually left after falling with Ir Alex Ferguson.

The highlight signed from PSG and sold to Real Madrid highlighted how good Heinze is, and he was named the Red Devils Player of the Year in his first season and won the title in his final campaign with United.

Waynebridge

Waynebridge played for several Premier League clubs between 1998 and 2012. The British would have earned more England caps if no one had been on this list.

He liked to move forward and cross at every opportunity, but also solidified defensively, with Chelsea spending £7 million on his services in 2003, and Bridge won one title at Stamford Bridge.

Danny Rose

Undoubtedly, Danny Rose’s career highlights appeared in Tottenham’s debut with rival Arsenal, where he announced himself in North London with a fantastic long-distance goal.

Rose continued his successful Premier League career, with Thomas Touchel previously admitting that it took three days to stop the left-back and offensive threat before the Champions League clash.

Marcos Alonso

Marcos Alonso was able to score from afar at Chelsea following the spell with Bolton and Sunderland, making his own name as the left-back who won the Premier League and Champions League at Stamford Bridge.

The Spaniard Talley with 26 goals and 17 assists showed how good he was in the final third with just 179 appearances on defense, and he was called Barcelona’s “magnificent signature” when he left the Blues.

Luke Show

Southampton, Mann Utd

After jumping into the scene as a Southampton teenager, Man UTD paid a then-recorded £30 million fee for the teen to sign Luke Shaw.

Since then, Shaw has been named PFA Team of the Year twice and has voted for Man UTD’s Player of the Year twice. Called “the best left-back in the world” by former male UTD boss Eric Ten Hag, Shaw also had his critics, but he had more positives than negatives in his Premier League career.

Arsenal, Man City

Part of Arsenal’s invincible side in 2003/04, Gael Clichy won two more titles at Man City, becoming known as the left-back in great offensive in North London and Manchester.

The French also had a great passing vision, being defensively solid and welcomed by Arsen Wenger, who named Chrissy “great.”

David Answorth

Left-back David Answorth, who can play as a center defender if necessary, is the best-scoring fullback in the Premier League and has become a somewhat penalty king on top flights.

Although best known for his time at Everton in his prime, the left side was extremely paced and powerful, earning the nickname “Spi” during his time at Goodison Park.
