The eye-watering stats that prove Barcelona’s fans should be excited about Memphis Depay

A series of impressive statistics surrounding the production of Memphis Depay on the international stage have come to the fore online on Monday evening.

Dutch in front

Depay is currently locked in action in a Euro 2020 meeting between the Netherlands and North Macedonia.

The former had already secured their spot in the competition’s knockout rounds before today, having rattled off a pair of victories over the course of the last week.

One such player came in the form of the aforementioned Depay, with the gifted attacker, as things stand, representing the difference between the nations.

A wonderful counter-attack on the part of the Dutch, set in motion by the lightning-quick Donyell Malen, eventually culminated in the PSV talent squaring for Depay to slot home a pinpoint left-footed finish:

Reason for Blaugrana optimism

Depay’s latest telling contribution for his country, meanwhile, has since given rise to a series of remarkable statistics, which should go at least some way towards quelling the fears of the Barcelona faithful.

Depay was of course unveiled as a new Blaugrana player over the weekend, ahead of the imminent expiration of his contract with Olympique Lyonnais. Many of a Barca persuasion have already made their concerns with the transfer clear, amid the suggestion that the 27-year-old is not quite at the level required to guide the club back to the top of Spanish football.

The aforementioned stats doing the rounds this evening, however, speak for themselves, with Depay, when utilised in a central attacking role for his country, having long excelled:
