Word doing the rounds in the English media on Monday suggests that Tottenham Hotspur have narrowed their search for a new manager to a pair of candidates.
Gattuso, Fonseca & more
Ongoings on the white half of North London have of course taken centre stage in the media over the last couple of weeks.
This comes amid the Lilywhites’ ongoing efforts to appoint a new manager ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.
Since the decision was made to dismiss Jose Mourinho back in April, a whole host of tacticians from across the continent have been tipped to take up the reins at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
To this point, however, the efforts of Daniel Levy and co. have proven fruitless.
Both Antonio Conte and Paulo Fonseca, for example, have looked near locks to take up the reins at Spurs at one point or another since the beginning of the month.
A combination of indecision and lack of financial backing, however, ultimately saw deals for both collapse.
Gennaro Gattuso, meanwhile, was the latest name tipped to bring an end to the managerial hunt in the English capital early last week, but negotiations with the Italian, too, eventually came to nothing.
Gennaro Gattuso WON’T be next Tottenham manager, confirmed as per @David_Ornstein. It’s never been a done deal, agreed or set to be signed, as reported last night. ❌⚪️ #THFC
Spurs met with Gattuso agent, positive feelings – then decided against appointing him. Search restarts.

Familiar faces
As such, it goes without saying that, with pre-season for the forthcoming campaign just weeks away, those in a position of power at Tottenham will soon need to come to a definitive decision regarding the man to lead the club forward.
And, if the latest word stemming from the media on Monday is anything to go by, then it appears that Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici are inching ever closer to doing exactly that.
As per a mounting number of sources, Spurs’ managerial search has been narrowed to a pair of candidates.
The tacticians in question? Nuno Espirito Santo – who of course just recently parted ways with Wolves, and Graham Potter – current Brighton & Hove Albion boss.
An appointment could be forthcoming as early as next week.
