Ozan Kabak’s tricky six months
Ozan Kabak is going to be faced with a fascinating summer. On loan at Liverpool for the second half of 2020/21, the Turkish international endured a tricky spell on Merseyside making just 9 Premier League appearances and failing to nail down a starting berth despite a defensive injury crisis.
It later became clear that Jurgen Klopp’s side had no intention of activating the 18 million pound option to buy that they had agreed with Schalke when they took Kabak on loan.
The Turkish international’s value has only plummeted from this point. He was unable to force his way into Turkey’s Euro2020 side, having to make do with a place on the bench as his nation went out with a whimper.
To make matters worse, his parent club Schalke have found themselves relegated from the Bundesliga this season, meaning that Kabak could well end up playing his football in 2.Bundesliga next season if he is unable to force a move away.
Both of these factors have meant that Kabak has suddenly become available for far less money than it was expected the 21-year-old would move for this summer.
Not short of suitors
Despite his tricky spell with Liverpool, Kabak has plenty of options this summer if rumours are to be believed.
Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur represent interested parties from the Premier League. Leicester City have also previously been credited with an interest in the defender.

Whoever gets their hands on Kabak will be getting a fantastic value for money deal, although how much he can improve on his performances for Liverpool is another matter.
