Pau Torres has recently responded to speculation linking him to Manchester United and Real Madrid.
Torres impressing with Villarreal
Pau Torres is a product of Spanish outfit Villarreal’s youth system.
After honing his craft on loan with Malaga, Torres has since returned to Villarreal, where he has cemented himself as a key figure in Unai Emery’s side.
The 24-year-old notched 44 appearances across all competitions for El Submarino Amarillo last term, playing a crucial role in their first-ever Europa League triumph under Unai Emery.
The 10-time capped international has also demonstrated his impressive passing range and ability on the ball over the last few seasons, a trait all top centre-backs need to possess in the modern game.
Torres responds to transfer speculation
His impressive form for club and country has led to Torres attracting the interest of some top sides.
Both Real Madrid and Manchester United have been linked with the stopper of late.
Torres is understood to have a release clause of around €65m, which in today’s market is a pretty decent fee for such a quality defender who is still only fairly young:

So, both Madrid and United fans are no doubt hopeful of seeing Torres lining out in their colours come next season.
Torres himself would be quizzed on the Man United and Real rumours recently.
When asked by Goal about the United and Madrid speculation, Torres had this to say:
“I have a contract at Villarreal, I just won the first title for the club, we have qualified for the Champions League and it is something that excites me a lot.
“Now I’m focused on the Euros. Then the Super Cup and nice things will come, so I’m totally calm.”
