An update on the transfer situation surrounding Achraf Hakimi has emerged on Wednesday.
Hakimi impresses
Achraf Hakimi of course spent two seasons on loan in Germany with Borussia Dortmund, where he impressed in a back-five, forming a solid partnership with Jadon Sancho.
Despite a stellar 2019/20 campaign, which saw him score nine and assist 10, however, Real Madrid were not willing to give Hakimi a chance to impress in their side once he returned from loan.
Instead, Los Blancos shipped the Moroccan off to Inter Milan for a fee reported to be around £40m.
Inter, like Dortmund in 2019/20, largely operated with a back-five system this past season.
This allowed Hakimi to again excel in his favoured right-wing-back role.
All told, the 22-year-old scored seven and assisted ten in 37 league outings, as Inter secured their first Serie A title in 10 years.
PSG leading Hakimi race?
In turn, such impressive form has inevitably resulted in Hakimi being linked with yet another move across Europe.
The front-runners for the youngster are said to be PSG and Chelsea, the latter of whom are believed to have called Hakimi’s agent earlier this month.
Now though, it appears one of these two clubs is further ahead in their pursuit of Hakimi than the other.
And, unfortunately for Chelsea, that club does look to be PSG.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano is reporting that PSG are getting closer and a final bid is expected in the next days.
For Chelsea’s part, the Blues are still said to be in contact with his agent, but there has not been a bid yet:
