Jamal Musiala has admitted he’s looking forward to facing England next Tuesday and says he’s already contacted Jude Bellingham about the game.

The Bayern Munich youngster was handed his major international tournament debut on Wednesday night and he played a key role in securing Germany’s passage through to the next round.

Joachim Low’s men will now face England in the last 16 – the country Musiala represented as a youngster before switching allegiance – and he says he can’t wait to play at Wembley Stadium against the Three Lions, while adding he’s already spoken to former England youth teammate Bellingham.

“It’s a game against my second home, it’ll be a cool game, I’ve already talked to Jude a bit,” he said, as reported by Goal. “At Wembley against England – that will be cool. Great match, great atmosphere. We’re looking forward to playing this match.”

While Musiala may only have been afforded ten minutes of Die Mannschaft’s 2-2 draw with Hungary on Wednesday night, his appearance saw him become Germany’s youngster ever player at a major tournament.

The 18-year-old said he was delighted to have been able to help the team make it through to the next round and that the grand occasion didn’t impact his self-belief.

“I just went in with full confidence and tried to do something,” he added. “I’m happy to help and proud to play for this team. I was very happy when Leon scored the goal.”

Low was full of compliments for the teenager having watched his cameo appearance, meaning that may not be the last we see of Musiala’s dazzling talents at Euro 2020.

“Musiala was bold, secured balls. It was a very pleasing performance,” he told Bayern’s official website.

The winner of Germany’s game against England will progress through to the quarter-finals to face either Sweden or Ukraine on 3 July.
