Aston Villa make strong start to life without Grealish
Of course, for Villa fans the summer was dominated by the story of Jack Grealish, and after a great deal of “will-he, won’t-he”, the Englishman finally departed the midlands outfit to join Premier League champions Manchester City for 100 million pounds, a British record fee.

The Villians replaced their star man with incoming trio Danny Ings, Leon Bailey and Emiliano Buendia, all of whom have already opened their account for the club in a solid opening to the season.
Dean Smith’s side currently sit on 7 points from their opening 5 games, having suffered defeats at the hands of both Watford and Chelsea. However, by the start they have made, it does not seem as though the side are missing their talisman from last season too much as they look to push for Europe this campaign.
Dean Smith backs academy trio to succeed at Premier League level
In addition to their three newest stars, three academy graduates have all appeared for Dean Smith and his side in the Premier League and Carabao Cup so far this season, in the form of Cameron Archer, Carney Chukwuemeka and Jaden Philogene-Bidace.
Ahead of their Saturday lunchtime, the Villa boss was asked how much he could see the trio featuring this season, and tipped them for success at the top level, saying:
“They are three players who have come through the academy and are capable of competing at Premier League level.”

With youth players always personal favourites of the fanbase, Villians will be hoping that Smith is proved right and the trio become mainstays in the Midlands side.
