How Richarlison reacted to James Rodriguez’s Everton departure

James Rodriguez departs Everton

James Rodriguez joined Everton in September of 2020 from Real Madrid.

The signing at the time was viewed as something of a coup for the Toffees, who were no doubt excited to have the Colombian once again honing his craft under decorated boss, Carlo Ancelotti.

And Rodriguez had a solid start to his Everton career, notching five goals and seven assists in his first 18 games:

However, Rodriguez did dip off somewhat in the second half of 2020/21, in part due to fitness issues.

And following Carlo Ancelotti leaving for Real Madrid and Rafa Benitez taking over, Rodriguez’s future at Goodison Park has been called into question.

It was claimed that Everton could sell six senior players as Benitez rebuilds and Rodriguez was named as one player who could indeed be moved on.

Rodriguez did not depart over the summer, but has now officially left the club for Qatar side, Al Rayyan, for an undisclosed fee:

How Richarlison reacted

Everton would break the news on their Twitter and Instagram accounts.

And it was on Instagram which Richarlison would react to the news.

The Brazilian appeared to be unaware that Rodriguez had actually left the club, taking to the comments section of the Instagram post confirming Rodriguez had left to post one of the many shock face emojis available to users:
