Leeds United talent Joe Gelhardt has continued to turn heads this evening, after finding the net versus Blackburn Rovers.
Peacocks on top
Gelhardt and co. are currently locked in action in Premier League 2.
Leeds’ U23 outfit have enjoyed a fine start to the campaign, so much so that they headed into proceedings on Friday aware that a victory would guide them to the division’s summit, at least for the time being.
And, as things stand at the LNER Community Stadium, all three points is precisely what the Whites are headed towards.
Mike Sheron’s men currently lead Blackburn by four goals to two, amid an enthralling affair in York.
As proved the case last time out, when he bagged a stunning brace en route to a 4-0 drubbing of Liverpool, Joe Gelhardt has again proven the star of the show this evening.

The young hitman, highly-regarded across the English football landscape, opened the scoring versus Blackburn, cutting inside from the right, skipping beyond a pair of opposing defenders before picking out the far corner with aplomb:

And Gelhardt was back at it again shortly after the interval, this time showcasing his tenacity in winning back possession, surging into a goalscoring position, and lashing through the legs of Jordan Eastham:

Hammers showdown
One man who will no doubt be keeping a close eye on proceedings at the LNER Stadium on Friday is Marcelo Bielsa.
The Leeds boss is being forced to deal with something of an injury crisis at present, with star hitman Patrick Bamford the latest key performer added to the treatment table ahead of the club’s Premier League meeting with West Ham.
Could Gelhardt’s remarkable stretch of form in front of goal soon see him taken into consideration for a first-team berth?
