Patino & Hutchinson train with Arsenal first-team as increased exposure hints at future inclusion

Patino and Hutchinson train with Arsenal first-team

Highly touted Arsenal starlets Charlie Patino and Omari Hutchinson have once again trained with the first-team at London Colney in the run-up to the Gunners weekend North London Derby clash against Tottenham at the Emirates stadium.

The English pair are widely viewed as the best of an impressive bunch in the “class of 2020” at Arsenal along with the likes of Marcelo Flores, Brooke Norton-Cuffy, Zane Monlouis, Jack Henry-Francis (who has also tasted life in the first-team during pre-season), and Khayon Edwards.

Under the guidance of former Arsenal center-back and Germany stalwart Per Mertesacker, the Hale End pipeline has reached another gear in the last three years with the Hannoverian at the helm. The hope, according to Mertesacker himself, is that the club should put an emphasis on having an elite academy given the fan connection, as well as Arsenal having the ability to be an attractive progressive pathway to minutes for young players faster than their rivals are capable of offering.

Excitement around Patino reaching the limit

Just like any other fanbase with a rich history of developing their own talent, Arsenal fans have already drank the kool aid around the Charlie Patino watering hole in recent months.

The 17-year-old potential prodigy, already being labeled as one of the best players to ever come through the Hale End academy ranks, was widely expected to feature for Arsenal at some stage against AFC Wimbledon in their Carabao Cup fixture in midweek, but instead, was not included in the squad at all.

But according to Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, caution should be applied around the growing expectations when it comes to the player despite him training well;

“He was very close but at the end we decided that some players as well needed some minutes. It will happen naturally with time.

Charlie has been good. He’s been training more and more with us. He played a practice game at Colney and was really good. But again, he needs time and we will prepare him.”
