Daniel Levy’s massive Tottenham valuation revealed ahead of Arsenal clash

Daniel Levy places valuation on Tottenham

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has made headlines with his massive valuation placed on Spurs in the run up to the North London Derby against bitter rivals Arsenal.

As the Lilywhites continue in their attempts to establish themselves as one of the elite of the English game, Levy has seen fit to go on record with a £3.5 billion valuation of the club, which doubles the current Forbes valuation, resting at ~£1.7 billion as of April of this year.

On top of the attached number, Levy has also listed the naming rights for Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at a whopping £25 million annually.

Telegraph writer Matt Law disagreed, however, stating that Levy will never see such valuations met, given the current state of affairs at the club.

With just the Europa Conference League on offer this season, and their last piece of silverware coming in 2007-08, there is little reason to suggest that Tottenham could ever realistically command that type of financial pull without a considerable uptick in on-pitch success.

Value means nothing if you cannot win

With Tottenham boss Nuno Espírito Santo set to clash with main rivals Arsenal in his first North London Derby at the helm of the capital club, Levy must be prepared to put his monetary valuations where his mouth is.

Apart from Spurs finishing in the top four places on four occasions in the last nine years, while reaching a European final on just one occasion, a Tottenham loss to Arsenal at the weekend would be an automatic bullet to the foot of a club that hopes to be bigger than their bitter rivals at the very least.

Despite Arsenal resting far below the happier times seen under Arsène Wenger, Tottenham have yet to eclipse the Gunners in club valuation, even when reaching the “best” version of themselves under Mauricio Pochettino.

Before Levy can seriously suggest that Tottenham are ahead of the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea – the current Champions League holders – when it comes to value, maybe Spurs should consider winning some silverware first.
