Real Madrid held by Villareal
Real Madrid were in La Liga action on Saturday.
Under the guidance of Carlo Ancelotti, Los Blancos have had a starring start to the 2021/22 season and, with FC Barcelona in crisis, look set to be favourites to clinch the title this campaign.
Before Saturday, Madrid had won five, drawn one and lost zero in the league and were sitting pretty atop of it as a result.
However, when facing off with Villareal on Saturday, Real were forced to settle for a 0-0 draw, which just so happened to be Villareal’s 5th draw of the seaosn from just six games.
Madrid, though, are now in danger of slipping off top spot as Sevilla, who are currently in 2nd place, are just three points behind them with a game in hand.
Florentino Perez sends message over Mbappe
It was not the game itself, however, which has since proven to be the major talking point following the clash.
That instead came after the game and away from the stadium.
It is no secret that the Spanish powerhouse were interested in signing PSG star Kylian Mbappe this summer.
In the end, though, the Frenchman would stay put at the Parc des Princes. However, after the Madrid game on Saturday, president Florentino Perez appears to have confirmed when Mbappe will sign for his club.
As reported by Directo Gol, Perez’s car stopped after a small impact at a roundabout. This led to fans approaching the car to ask when Mbappe will sign for them, to which Perez reportedly replied, next year:
🚨 El coche del presidente del Real Madrid ha sufrido un pequeño impacto en la glorieta de los Sagrados Corazones y ha sucedido lo siguiente👇🏻
– Aficionado: Presi, ¿Mbappé para cuándo?
– Florentino Pérez: El año que viene https://t.co/LT36kyvszf— Sergio Quirante (@SQuirante) September 25, 2021
