Pedri injury update provided ahead of Barcelona’s meeting with Benfica

An update on the injury recovery of Barcelona midfielder Pedri has been forthcoming on Sunday evening.

Depay amongst the goals

Ronald Koeman’s men are currently locked in La Liga action at the Camp Nou.

After picking up just two points from an available six across a pair of meetings with Granada and Cadiz over the course of the last week, the Blaugrana welcomed Levante to Catalunya, desperate to return to winning ways.

And, as things stand, all three points is precisely what Barca are headed towards.

A dominant first-half sees the hosts currently leading by two goals to nil, having finally managed to piece together some attacking fluidity.

The evening’s scoring was opened inside six minutes, when Memphis Depay dusted himself down after being felled in the Levante area to slot home in confident fashion from 12 yards:

Then, less than ten minutes later, it was two, as the heavily involved Sergino Dest slipped summer arrival Luuk de Jong in for a cool finish of his own.

The Blaugrana, in turn, look primed to climb into La Liga’s top-5, if, as expected, they manage to finish the job in the 2nd-half on Sunday.

Pedri latest

Next up for Koeman and co., though, comes an altogether more stern test.

After slipping to a concerning 3-0 defeat in their competition opener two weeks ago, the Catalan giants will return to Champions League action on Wednesday night, in a trip to Portugal to face Benfica.

And, in a timely boost for all associated with the club, an update on the potential availability of midfield standout Pedri for the clash has today been forthcoming.

Spanish international Pedri, already an integral member of the Blaugrana’s ranks at 18, has spent the last couple of weeks on the sidelines with a thigh injury.

As per Barcelona reporter Reshad Rahman, citing Javi Miguel of Diario AS, though, the teenage sensation could yet mark his return to action at the Estadio da Luz in three days’ time:
