Anthony Joshua loses
The sporting world had its eyes firmly fixed on the Boxing on Saturday evening.
Anthony Joshua would be defending his World Heavyweight titles against Oleksandr Usyk.
However, Joshua would go on to lose the clash, with all three judges awarding the fight to Usyk by scores of 117-112, 116-112 and 115-113.
Tottenham blamed for AJ loss
On the back of said loss, football club, Tottenham Hotspur, have become the butt of the joke online.
The reason for this is because the Joshua fight would take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Spurs are, in recent history, well known for their lack of trophies and, when they do reach finals, like the League Cup in 2021 and Champions League in 2019, they generally ‘bottle it’.
And now, some fans, including those of a Tottenham persuasion, have taken to Twitter to suggest, in a light-hearted way of course, that AJ lost the fight because it was at Tottenham’s stadium and their lack of trophies and ability to ‘bottle it’ rubbed off on AJ:
AJ fought at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium and really thought he wouldn’t bottle it 💀💀💀

The fight was in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, how did you not expect AJ to bottle it???
— Adil (@axnz14) September 25, 2021
Nah AJ should never have fought in Tottenham stadium.
They are trophy-less for a reason.— Tobi (@tobil0ba) September 25, 2021
Not even AJ can bring a trophy to tottenham

Of course AJ bottled at Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium

I think AJ can blame the venue for this defeat. It’s the history of Tottenham Hotspur stadium to not win a title

AJ bottling it at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, it was written in the stars. #COYS

Makes sense why AJ lost to USYK. It was played at the Tottenham stadium. They don’t bring trophies home here

Look what fighting in tottenham did to AJ, spurs made him bottle it
— Billie (@Billie_T) September 25, 2021
Tottenham’s bottling brand has branched out to boxing too. AJ has now formally been infected with Spursy at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

Congrats Usyk 🥊 Even AJ can’t bring a title to Tottenham 😩😂 pic.twitter.com/gvtHJbJldB
