Alexander-Arnold omitted from Liverpool’s CL travelling squad and what it means for availability vs Man City

Trent Alexander-Arnold was not part of the Liverpool party which departed Merseyside for Portugal on Monday evening, it has been confirmed.

Porto lie in wait

Jurgen Klopp’s men are of course set to return to action tomorrow evening.

After seeing their Premier League title hopes dealt something of a blow in a thrilling 3-3 stalemate with Brentford on Saturday, the Reds will now turn their attentions back towards matters on the continent.

A meeting with Portuguese giants Porto lies in wait, at the Estadio do Dragao in 24 hours’ time.

The clash marks Liverpool’s 2nd of the Champions League campaign, with Klopp and co. eyeing back-to-back victories to open their Group B adventure after getting the better of AC Milan at Anfield two weeks ago.

TAA ruled out

As outlined above, though, Liverpool’s hopes of making it six points from an available six in Europe have, on Monday evening, been dealt something of a blow.

This comes after word was forthcoming that one of the club’s star performers is set to play no part in the action at the Dragao.

The player in question? Trent Alexander-Arnold.

As confirmed by a host of reliable sources, TAA, who only returned to starting duties on the back of a spell on the sidelines this past weekend, has not travelled with the rest of the Reds’ squad to Portugal.

This comes with the English international having been deemed as ‘not fit enough to fly’.

In even more concerning news for the Liverpool faithful, Alexander-Arnold, in turn, is expected to face a ‘race against time’ to be available for the club’s crunch Premier League showdown with Manchester City this coming Sunday.
