Chelsea’s supporters have taken to social media in numbers this evening, to react to the latest performance of midfield loanee Conor Gallagher.
Maupay breaks Eagles hearts
Gallagher was back in action a short time ago, as Crystal Palace welcomed rivals Brighton to Selhurst Park, for a Premier League clash.
The Eagles headed into proceedings aiming to get back on track, after seeing a much-needed upturn in form brought to a firm end at the hands of Liverpool last time out.
And, as the action rolled into injury time in South London, a bounce-back three points is precisely what Patrick Vieira’s men were headed towards.
After Wilfried Zaha stepped up to slot home a spot-kick for the hosts in confident fashion on the stroke of the interval, Palace maintained their advantage until the clock struck 94 at Selhurst.

A twist in the tale, however, lay in wait.
After Joel Veltman’s lofted ball sent Neal Maupay surging clear of the home side’s backline, the hitman made no mistake in lofting a fine finish beyond the reach of the onrushing Vicente Guaita, securing a share of the spoils for Brighton in the process:

‘Deserves a chance’
As outlined above, though, amid the chaos in the capital this evening, supporters of one of Palace’s London rivals were altogether preoccupied with the latest performance of one of their own.
The club in question? Chelsea. The player? Conor Gallagher.
Midfield starlet Gallagher has of course enjoyed a fine start to the campaign, after being farmed out on loan to Selhurst Park from Stamford Bridge during the summer.
Up against Brighton, meanwhile, the Blues youth product again proved himself a handful all game long, impressing both in and out of possession, and even securing the penalty from which Zaha opened the scoring.
In turn, the Chelsea faithful have taken to social media in their absolute droves, with the general consensus seemingly that Gallagher is more than ready to make the step up to Thomas Tuchel’s first-team setup in West London in 2022/23:
Gallagher will be a special addition to our squad next season!
