Premier League to move post-match interviews after Arsenal vs Tottenham incident

Arsenal hammer Tottenham

The first North London Derby of the season took place on Sunday afternoon.

Arsenal would host Tottenham knowing that win would see them overtake their London rivals in the table, despite losing their first three games of the PL season.

And, when all was said and done, this is exactly what Mikel Arteta and co. managed.

Arsenal ran riot over Spurs in the first 45. Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka combined for the opening goal, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang then adding a second after 27 minutes.

It was then Saka’s turn to get in on the goals minutes later, adding the Gunners’ 3rd of the day with just 34 minutes on the clock.

Heung-min Son pulled one back for the visitors late on but it did not matter.

Premier League set to move post-match interviews

In the aftermath of the game, Arsenal fans at the Emirates were understandably enjoying themselves after getting one over on their rivals and overtaking them in the Premier League table.

And, following the game, some Arsenal fans would stick around to taunt Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo whilst he tried to do his post-match interview, which he ended up walking out of due to the Arsenal fans:

Post-match interviews have been held on the edge of the pitch since football returned during the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, The Times are reporting that several, including Nuno’s, have been disrupted by the noise from fans who have remained inside the ground.

As a result, the Premier League is said to have told clubs it plans to allow the main broadcaster to use an inside interview room instead.

The new rule could apply from as early as this weekend for some matches.
