Aaron Ramsdale excelling
Arsenal would bring in Aaron Ramsdale from now Championship outfit Sheffield United over the summer.
The Englishman had previously not enjoyed the best of spells in the Premier League with both Sheffield United and Bournemouth.
However, Ramsdale is still just 23 years of age and is full of potential. When he was brought in, there was an expectation that he would play back-up to Bernd Leno.
And, for the first three league games of the season, this is what happened, with the German starting in the 2-0 loss to Brentford, 2-0 loss to Chelsea and 5-0 loss to Manchester City (Ramsdale had not signed for Arsenal at the time of the Brentford game).
But following the Gunners’ awful start to the campaign, Mikel Arteta has since dropped Leno and handed Ramsdale a chance to shine.
And, so far, the young shot-stopper is doing exactly that, keeping two clean sheets in a row before impressing vs Tottenham this past weekend.
Leno’s transfer ultimatum
What, though, does this mean for Bernd Leno?
It had previously been claimed that Arteta had promised Leno that he would have a break for just two matches, meaning he would be back in vs Spurs:
TRUE ✅ According to my information: Mikel Arteta promised that @Bernd_Leno will have just a break for two matches. So: Against @SpursOfficial Leno should be back on the pitch. We will see if Arteta keeps his word @Arsenal pic.twitter.com/YR7DvcaQ1Q

This, of course, did not happen. And now, Leno has issued something of a transfer ultimatum to Arsenal.
The German stated that though he is not seriously thinking about leaving Arsenal yet, if nothing changes in his situation by winter, he would have to start to think about his future:
“There was no clear reason why I was out, but it had nothing to do with my performance. He is the trainer, he decides. Of course, it’s difficult for me.
“London is very nice; Milan is not bad either and closer to my home Stuttgart. But I’m not seriously thinking about that yet. I feel comfortable at Arsenal and in London.”
“Only if nothing changes in my situation by winter would I have to think about things: what option do I have, how can I continue? But I’m concentrating on my work in training; I can’t commit to anything else at the moment.”
