England boss Gareth Southgate provided an insight into the fitness of Chelsea pair Reece James and Mason Mount on Thursday afternoon.
Thomas Tuchel’s men returned to action on Wednesday night.
After slipping to a first defeat of the season at the hands of Manchester City at the weekend, the Blues made the trip to Turin, for a testing Champions League group stage showdown with Italian heavyweights Juventus.
And, when all was said and done at the Allianz Stadium, the European champions were forced to contend with a concerning 2nd successive loss across all competitions.
A solitary goal proved all that was required to guide Juve to an early advantage atop the Group H table.
Straight from kick-off at the beginning of the 2nd-half, a cleverly worked team move saw Federico Bernardeschi slip in Federico Chiesa, who made no mistake with an unerring finish beyond Edouard Mendy into the roof of the visitors’ net:
WOOOOOW! 😱
Just 🔟 seconds after the restart Juventus have taken the lead!

‘A good chance’
Chelsea, in turn, will no doubt be desperate to return to winning ways in the club’s next outing, this weekend.
Tuchel and co. are set to turn their sights back towards matters on the domestic front in a meeting with Southampton on Saturday afternoon, eyeing a spot atop the Premier League table.
And, ahead of the fast-approaching capital clash, the Blues, this afternoon, have been handed something of a boost.
Speaking in a press conference a short time ago, England boss Gareth Southgate was asked for his latest knowledge regarding the wellbeing of Chelsea pair Reece James and Mason Mount.
This comes after both were included in the latest Three Lions squad on Thursday, despite having been forced to sit out Wednesday’s action in Turin with respective injury concerns.
Southgate, though, hinted that James and Mount are now on the verge of respective returns to the pitch, with both having ‘a good chance’ of featuring versus Southampton:
‘There is an element of the unknown. But our understanding is that Mason and Reece have a good chance for the weekend.’
