Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has, on Thursday evening, provided an update on the fitness of both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Thiago Alcantara.
Anfield showdown
Klopp and co. are set to turn their attentions back towards matters on the domestic front this weekend.
After continuing their remarkable stretch of goalscoring form courtesy of a 5-1 drubbing of Portuguese giants Porto in the Champions League on Tuesday night, the Reds now face up to an altogether more daunting task.
This comes in the form of a Premier League showdown with champions Manchester City.
The two most recent winners of the English top-flight are separated by just a solitary point at the division’s summit as things stand, with Liverpool boasting the advantage.
Pep Guardiola’s City, though, will no doubt be confident in their chances of a 2nd successive 3-point haul in the Premier League on Sunday, after getting the better of Chelsea last weekend.

‘Won’t have enough time’
As such, it goes without saying that Jurgen Klopp will be desperate to have as many of his key performers fit and available as possible, when the Merseysiders play host to City in three days’ time.
And, as outlined above, on Thursday, the Liverpool boss has provided telling updates on two such players – Trent Alexander-Arnold and Thiago Alcantara.
Both TAA and Thiago were forced to watch on from home two nights ago, as their side ran riot at the Estadio do Dragao.
And, in a blow for all associated with the Reds, Klopp confirmed this evening that neither will be back in contention in time to feature versus City this weekend:
🚨 CONFIRMED: Trent Alexander-Arnold has been ruled out of Sunday’s match against Manchester City.
