United’s midfield conundrum
Manchester United have struggled in central midfield all season. Although Scott McTominay and Fred are good players, they are quickly found out against better opposition, and lack the skills to make a vital difference when it comes to moving the ball up the pitch.
One option is of course Donny Van de Beek, yet he is seemingly out in the cold at the moment, and could not even make it onto the pitch ahead of Nemanja Matic and Fred against Villareal, something he was evidently unhappy about.
Van de Beek walks back from his warm-up and throws his bib on the floor. Another no-show. #mufc

The club seem to be crying out for an authoritative central midfielder who can grab a game by the scruff of the neck and effect both boxes.
Manchester United target Franck Kessie
As per Sport Witness, one player who the Red Devils could turn to as a solution is AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie.
The Ivorian has impressed during his time with the Rossoneri, catching the eye of Liverpool as well as Spurs, but only has one year left to run on his current deal in Italy, and has rejected the latest Milanese offer.
I feel Milan not selling Franck Kessie was a big mistake. They risk losing him for free & they could have made a profit on him
Apparently he wants 8 million per season & Milan is not going to offer that surely
Finishing top 4 again would salvage this probably

According to the report, however, it is Manchester United that are “pressing” for the Milanese man, although it is unclear whether that will be in January or in the summer, where he will be available for free.
Would he solve Manchester United’s midfield issues, or is the solution simply one of tactics?
