Brighton & Hove Albion took to social media on Friday to aim a clear-cut dig at Arsenal, with the latter’s fanbase having since responded in their numbers.
Seaside showdown
The Seagulls and Gunners are of course set to renew rivalries tomorrow evening.
In the first meeting between the sides in 2021/22, Arsenal will make the trip to the Amex, aiming to build on a fine recent spell of form.
After slipping to a trio of successive defeats to open the campaign, Mikel Arteta’s men have since bounced back in a major way over the last couple of weeks, racking up four straight victories across all competitions.

Brighton, though, will prove no pushovers on Saturday.
Graham Potter’s outfit have proven the surprise package of the Premier League season thus far, sitting joint-2nd, alongside the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea.
Seagulls take aim
As such, a testing affair looks certain to lie in wait for both sides in 24 hours’ time.
And, as outlined above, as the south coast clash continues to inch closer, the hosts have opted to take aim at their upcoming opponents.
This comes in the form of a simple but altogether effective post across the club’s social media platforms.
As showcased below, Brighton have posted a photo of Neal Maupay making a crying gesture, accompanied by the caption ‘Arsenal at home is next’:

For those not aware, this is a less-than-subtle dig on the part of the Seagulls, in reference to the club’s controversial meeting with Arsenal late in the 2019/20 campaign, which ultimately culminated in Bernd Leno being stretchered off, Maupay bagging a 95th-minute winner, and Matteo Guendouzi launching an outburst which all-but ended his Gunners career.
In turn, it should not come as too much of a surprise to hear that many of an Arsenal persuasion have failed to see the funny side of Brighton’s jibe, with just some of the hundreds of replies to the post showcased below:
