Video: Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun produces jaw-dropping piece of individual skill to win penalty vs Brighton U23s

Footage of Arsenal starlet Folarin Balogun beating his man to secure a spot-kick opportunity during the club’s U23 meeting with Brighton this evening has gone viral across social media.

Salah amongst the goals

Kevin Betsy’s men returned to action a short time ago.

On the back of a fine opening to the campaign, the Gunners’ U23s welcomed Brighton & Hove Albion to the Emirates, ahead of their senior equivalents’ showdown with the Seagulls in 24 hours’ time.

Owing to four wins and a draw from their opening six fixtures, Arsenal were no doubt well aware ahead of the action getting underway in North London that another 3-point haul would guide them clear at the Premier League 2 summit.

And, when all was said and done on Friday evening, march to another victory is precisely what the hosts managed.

A dominant 90 minutes ultimately culminated in Arsenal emerging on the right side of a 3-0 final scoreline.

Folarin Balogun proved the star of the show, notching a brace either side of the interval to take his tally to a head-turning six goals in just four appearances this season.

Also on target for the 2nd week straight was highly-regarded midfielder Salah-Eddine Oulad M’Hand, adding to his long-range stunner versus Manchester City last weekend.

Folarin’s fancy footwork

As outlined above, however, it was not the goals themselves netted at the Emirates this evening which have since set the internet ablaze.

Instead, this has come in the form of a piece of individual brilliance on the part of the aforementioned Balogun.

After picking up the ball in the corner shortly after the hour mark, prolific hitman Balogun squared up his opposing Brighton defender, before producing the most sumptuous of nutmegs imaginable, culminating in a spot-kick opportunity.

Check out the skill below, no doubt only set to result in calls mounting for the 20-year-old to be handed a more consistent chance to impress at senior level by Mikel Arteta:
