Conor Gallagher cements importance to Crystal Palace with second Player of the Month award
Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher is having the time of his life in south London at Crystal Palace in the early months of the 2021-22 Premier League campaign, with the England U21 international earning the W88 Player of the Month award for September.

It is the second of such awards for Gallagher, who received the same honors in August as the start to his fourth loan stint has turned heads at Selhurst Park under new boss Patrick Vieira.

The Epsom-native has made five Premier League appearances for the Eagles this season once his loan move was finalized, completing 90-minutes in each of them while adding 2-goals and 1-assist for his efforts from the heart of the Palace midfield.

Deployed alongside James McArthur and given license to effect proceeding further forward in an advanced 8 role, his brace against West Ham in late August that earned Palace a credible draw was the highlight of his season thus far, and Eagles club mate Wilfried Zaha has sung his praises of late, while Belgian assistant coach and TV pundit Thierry Henry claims his appearances for Vieira’s outfit feature ‘everything.’
Blues future remains uncertain
Gallagher is one of a number of highly-gifted players to come off the Cobham production line in recent years, with others the likes of Mason Mount, Reece James, and Trevoh Chalobah, to plough through the youth ranks.
But Chelsea have a documented habit of letting go bright youngsters for decent fees in a bid to keep the coffers ready to splash on ready-made top level talent in a system that has seen players such as Fikayo Tomori, Tino Livramento, Lewis Bate, Myles Peart-Harris fly the coop in search of a more clearly-defined pathway to the first-team. Gallagher himself has been loaned out on four separate occasions and has yet to make a single appearance for the Stamford Bridge outfit.

Gallagher is certainly at a crossroads that will either make or break his status at a club where he spent 11-years climbing through the system. In the end, his destiny will either be that of Mason Mount or one of the many players that had to find greener pastures elsewhere.
