Two of the members of Mikel Arteta’s squad currently out on loan away from Arsenal have caught the eye on Sunday, for altogether contrasting reasons.
A new leader
First up comes Matteo Guendouzi.
22-year-old Guendouzi is of course currently in the midst of his 2nd successive loan spell away from North London, after spending last season in Germany with Hertha Berlin.
This time around, the Frenchman secured a return to his home country, to line out for Marseille (who are understood to boast an obligation to buy as part of their deal with Arsenal).
And, if the latest gesture on the part of his new boss is anything to go by, then, evidently, Guendouzi is impressing those in a position of power at the Stade Velodrome.
OM were back in action earlier today, in a Ligue 1 meeting with champions LOSC Lille.
Unfortunately for the visitors, when all was said and done at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy, Jorge Sampaoli’s side – including another Gunners loanee in William Saliba – were put to the sword by two goals to nil.
Despite the eventual result, though, it proved a special evening for the aforementioned Guendouzi.
This comes with the 22-year-old, despite his tender years and loan status with the club, having been handed the Marseille captain’s armband for the very first time:

Bellerin’s costly error
As outlined above, however, whilst one Arsenal star went about catching the headlines for all the right reasons, another was responsible for quite the opposite.
Another of the Emirates loan brigade was in action a short time ago, in the form of Hector Bellerin.
On the back of a somewhat hit-and-miss start to life back in his home country, full-back Bellerin was handed his latest start on the right of Real Betis’ backline versus Villarreal.
The away side ultimately fell to a disappointing 2-0 defeat in eastern Spain, owing to a brace from former Bournemouth standout Arnaut Danjuma.
And Bellerin’s role in the first netted by the Villarreal wide-man will no doubt leave Arsenal fans wincing at the memory of similar gaffes throughout the 26-year-old’s time in North London.
After intercepting a wayward pass deep in his own half, Bellerin’s woeful first touch opened the door for Danjuma to be slipped in, directly culminating in the evening’s opener at El Madrigal:
