Liverpool have seen themselves mentioned in the same breath as two young stars this weekend, one of whom has been dubbed the new Kevin De Bruyne.
Liverpool coach monitoring Bijlow
First, Reds goalkeeping coach John Achterberg has confirmed that he is monitoring Justin Bijlow.
Bijlow is a 23-year-old shot-stopper who currently plies his trade in the Eredivisie with Feyenoord.
He is now the Dutch outfit’s number one, and has made 63 appearances for their first-team, managing 24 shutouts in the process.
Speaking to the Mirror this weekend, meanwhile, Achterberg confirmed that he is monitoring Bijlow’s development, and speaks to Feyenoord’s goalkeeping coach regularly about him. However, the Liverpool coach was also quick to assure that he is not currently pushing anyone at the club into moving for Bijlow:
“The steps Feyenoord keeper Justin Bijlow is making at club level – and also with Holland – are good.
“I speak to his goalkeeping coach at Feyenoord, Khalid Benlahsen, from time to time.
“I’m just saying that I’m watching his progress – I’m not saying that Liverpool should look at him.”
Liverpool eye ‘next De Bruyne’
Elsewhere, Liverpool have been credited with an interest in a young star dubbed the next Kevin De Bruyne.
As per the Mirror:
Liverpool are closing in on attacking midfielder Kacper Kozlowski – who has been compared to Kevin De Bruyne in Poland.
Kozlowski plies his trade in his home country of Poland with Pogan Szczecin, whom he has spent the entirety of his senior and youth careers with.
Kozlowski has so far featured on 35 occasions for Pogan, scoring three and assisting four in the process.
Bayer Leverkusen, AC Milan, RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg are also said to be keen on the youngster.
