Word stemming from the media on Monday suggests that England are in danger of losing control of the talents of Callum Hudson-Odoi.
CHO’s woes
Chelsea wide-man Hudson-Odoi has endured another hit-and-miss opening to the new campaign.
The 20-year-old, once viewed as ‘the next big thing’ in West London, has seen his star continue to descend under the watch of Blues boss Thomas Tuchel.
With the likes of Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner and Christian Pulisic at his disposal, Tuchel has opted to hand Hudson-Odoi appearances in just a quartet of his side’s outings this season (3 starts).
And this lack of game-time, in turn, gave rise to the gifted wide-man unsurprisingly missing out on a spot in Gareth Southgate’s latest England squad, amid competition from a host of more established Premier League stars:

Ghana switch?
Hudson-Odoi, as a result, is set to head into the new year without having featured for his country since 2019.
And, as outlined above, the continued reluctance of Gareth Southgate to consider Chelsea’s explosive academy product for Three Lions duty could ultimately culminate in CHO opting to take his talents elsewhere.
As per a report from the reliable Matt Law of The Telegraph, ‘fears’ are beginning to spread that the 20-year-old could accept a call-up to play for Ghana.
Hudson-Odoi would be eligible to line out for the Black Stars from November of next year, just in time for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
This comes with FIFA’s rules allowing players to switch international allegiance, as long as they have lined out for one country on no more than three occasions before turning 21, with none having come at the ‘final stage’ of a major tournament.
Callum Hudson-Odoi has played three games for England, and none since 2019, but there are fears he could accept a Ghana call up when he qualifies @Matt_Law_DT https://t.co/jSIGN7Q5kk
