Altogether amusing footage of former Everton star James Rodriguez watching on from the stands as his new teammates in Qatar played out their most recent fixture has come to the fore online on Monday.
Toffees exit
Colombian international Rodriguez of course brought an end to his short Premier League stint late last month.
After enduring an altogether fruitless opening to the campaign on the back of Rafael Benitez’s instillation on the bench at Goodison Park, all parties quickly came to the decision that parting ways would be the most sensible route forward.
Upon the European transfer window slamming shut, and Rodriguez remaining an Everton player, though, the 30-year-old saw his list of potential destinations severely shortened.
Nevertheless, in the end, a move to the Middle East was forthcoming, on September 22nd.
This came after Qatari outfit Al-Rayyan presented those in a position of power on Merseyside with a suitable offer, with Rodriguez’s European adventure, in turn, likely to have reached a definitive conclusion.
Official, confirmed. James Rodriguez joins Al Rayyan from Everton, deal signed and completed. He leaves European football. 🇨🇴🇶🇦 #James #transfers pic.twitter.com/TfIBvY2DL5

Not impressed
The former Real Madrid man has since linked up with his new teammates in Qatar, joining widely recognised names Steven Nzonzi and Yacine Brahimi at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium.
If the aforementioned footage of Rodriguez to have made its way online this weekend is anything to go by, however, then the Colombian may require a settling in period, particularly when it comes to the standard of football…
Al-Rayyan were in action on Saturday, making the trip to Al Ahli for a Qatar Stars League clash.
And Rodriguez, not yet at full fitness, watched on from the stands as his new club ultimately ran out 1-0 victors, courtesy of a late spot-kick from the aforementioned Brahimi.
It is safe to say, though, that the midfielder, at one point at least, looked far from impressed with what he was witnessing at the Khalifa International Stadium.
In fact, so baffled did James look, that the internet have since intervened, to play their part in turning the 30-year-old into something of a meme…
