Having made 110 appearances for the Lilywhites, Aurier struggled in London. Although a capable defender, he was also prone to moments of madness, such as rash challenges and regular switching off, much to the frustration of the Tottenham faithful.
As a result, a new right-back was a priority this summer, with Spurs eventually opting for Emerson Royal, who joined from Barcelona.

While yet to pull up any trees for Nuno Espirito Santo, Emerson appears a shrewd acquisition based on his success at Real Betis, and at just 23 years old, will continue to improve.
Aurier set to join Europa League champions
As per reports, Aurier is now set to make the switch to Spain, joining Europa League champions Villareal.
He becomes the second Tottenham right-back to make the switch since the end of last season, with Juan Foyth also having joined Unai Emery’s side on a permanent deal in the summer.

Aurier will seemingly be competing with his former teammate for the starting berth, which Foyth has held to date this campaign, making 9 appearances for the Yellow Submarine.
Would Aurier represent an upgrade on the Argentine?
