Why Man United’s Victor Lindelof hasn’t linked up with Sweden squad yet

Manchester United have, on Tuesday evening, provided an official explanation for why Victor Lindelof has not linked up with Sweden yet for the current round of international fixtures.

Sweden’s international break

Sweden are set to play out two World Cup qualifiers during the October break.

The first of these takes place on Saturday the 9th of October vs Kosovo, with the second on Tuesday the 12th of October vs Greece.

With the first clash less than a week away, Victor Lindelof not yet linking up with the squad may have seemed fairly odd to some.

It may also have led to concerns that Lindelof has picked up an injury. This would of course be a big blow to Manchester United, who have already had to be without Harry Maguire for their last two matches due to injury, with the defender also not included in England’s squad for their games this month:

Why Lindelof has not joined up with Sweden yet

However, as mentioned above, Manchester United have provided an official explanation for Lindelof not joining up with Sweden yet.

And thankfully for United, it is not injury-related, with Man United instead confirming that:

Victor Lindelof has been called up by Sweden for their World Cup qualifiers with Kosovo and Greece, but the defender has not yet linked up with the national team due to personal circumstances.

The same update also confirmed that Marcus Rashford is in full training following shoulder surgery.
