Dortmund to show hand and table huge wage increase to Haaland
Erling Haaland remains one of Europe’s top young players, and also, one of the most sought after prizes across the continent.
The Norwegian goal machine has been nothing short of stellar during his spell in the Ruhr valley with Borussia Dortmund since his move from RB Salzburg in the January window during the 2019-20 Bundesliga campaign.

To date, Haaland has smashed 68-goals in sixty-seven appearances across all competitions for Die Schwarzgelben, while setting a number of records including being the first player in UEFA Champions League history to score six goals in his first three games, as well as becoming the first player in Bundesliga history to score five goals in his first two games.
With a scintillating start to the 2021-22 season to the tune of 11-goals and 4-assists in eight appearances (7-goals in five Bundesliga outings) Haaland is back to business without a hitch, and it is beyond clear that he is borderline irreplaceable at the Westfalenstadion.
As such, Dortmund are set to offer Haaland a massive wage hike according to Spanish outlet AS citing Bild’s Christian Falk.

Club sporting director Michael Zorc is reportedly set to offer the Norwegian nearly a 100% wage hike, taking his annual salary from €8million to €15million.
Despite the club bringing in PSV Eindhoven hot-shot Donyell Malen in the summer while also boasting German youth starlet Youssoufa Moukoko in its first-team ranks, Haaland’s guaranteed goals are too important to let slip away and the club seem prepared to make one last dice role to convince the Leeds-born forward that staying until 2023 would be beneficial.
Destination Real Madrid for Dortmund star?
It was rumored that there was considerable interest for Erling Haaland over the summer from the likes of Chelsea as well as both Manchester Clubs.
However, the Blues re-purchase of Romelu Lukaku and United’s reunion with Cristiano Ronaldo have seemingly put any plans for Haaland on hold, while City were adamant at chasing Harry Kane rather than making a serious play for the Dortmund ace; that stance could change however, with City being said to have abandoned the chase for Kane.

But Real Madrid are emerging as the most likely destination after the club have laid down plans to secure both Kylian Mbappé AND Haaland next summer on the back of a salary limit increase that could easily see them afford the acquisition of both wonderkids.
Los Blancos president Florentino Perez remains determined to bring Mbappé to the Santiago Bernabeu as soon as possible, while former Real midfielder Steve McManaman was quoted in Marca claiming that Haaland is positive on the idea of a Madrid switch.
With some of the worlds biggest clubs tracking the Norwegian, it seems unlikely that money will be enough to keep Erling Haaland in the Bundesliga longer than the current season.
