Donnarumma gets booed all night
Somewhat surprisingly, in a tie between Spain and Italy played in Italy, it was an Italian that received the loudest and most consistent boos of the night in the form of shot stopper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The hero of Italy’s Euro 2020 campaign, who saved two penalties in the final shoot out against England, it was expected that he would receive a better reception by many given his achievements in the summer.

This, however, was not the case, stemming from his decision to move to Paris Saint Germain in the summer.
Donnarumma’s departure a point of contention
Donnarumma played his domestic football in the San Siro for AC Milan, the same stadium in which Italy and Spain are currently locked in action. However, towards the end of his spell there (where he had made his debut as a 16 year old), relationships between him and the fans grew frosty.
Refusing to sign a new contract, Donnarumma instead left AC Milan on a free transfer, joining French Champions Paris Saint Germain, where he joined up with fellow Azzurri Marco Verratti.

Donnarumma wrote:
“Now the time has come to say goodbye, a choice that was not easy, and a post is certainly not enough to explain it. Maybe it can’t be explained because the deepest feelings can hardly be translated into words.”
However, this was not well received by his old club.
As a result, he found himself the subject of loud boos by the largely Milanese faithful inside the stadium, something which the result (currently 1-0 to Spain) is doing nothing to prevent.
