Real Madrid dealt Eden Hazard injury blow, amid suggestions Belgian could miss El Clasico

Another week, another Eden Hazard injury blow. The Belgian has been unable to catch a break since he made the switch from Chelsea to Real Madrid.

Hazard’s injury woes

Before this week, Hazard had, as per transfermarkt, suffered 12 separate injuries whilst on the books of Los Blancos.

Such struggles have seen the winger miss a hefty 57 games for Real Madrid.

However, for a change, the 2021/22 campaign had started off in pretty positive fashion for Hazard. He had featured in seven of Real Madrid’s eight La Liga outings, sitting on the bench for the remaining game.

The 30-year-old would then start for Belgium in their Nations League semi-final clash vs France on Thursday evening.

The Red Devils blew a two-goal lead to eventually lose the tie 3-2. And, to further add to Belgium’s woes, Eden Hazard was forced off after 74 minutes with a knock.

Hazard’s hamstring blow could result in Barcelona absence

Following Thursday’s game, an insight into the extent of Hazard’s injury has been provided by Goal reporter, Mario Cortegana.

Cortegana confirmed that the winger has suffered a puncture in the hamstring of his right leg, before providing an insight into the games which Hazard could miss as a result.

These include Belgium’s 3rd/4th place play-off in the Nations League later this week, and Madrid’s Champions League clash with Shakhtar Donetsk on the 19th of October.

Perhaps most concerningly, though, is the suggestion that ‘it also seems very premature to imagine him in the Classic with Barcelona, on the 24th’:
