Liverpool’s supporters have taken to social media in their numbers on Friday, to respond to news of Cristiano Ronaldo bagging the award for the Premier League’s Player of the Month.
CR7 on top
The English top-flight’s individual accolades for the month of September were of course unveiled earlier today.
Amongst the winners were Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta and Everton wide-man Andros Townsend, who secured the Manager of the Month and Goal of the Month prizes respectively.

As outlined above, though, the most coveted award of all went to Manchester United talisman Cristiano Ronaldo.
After notching a trio of goals across his first three appearances back in the division, CR7 was voted as the Premier League’s Player of the Month for September:

‘Robbed’
Ronaldo, in adding the latest piece of individual silverware to a burgeoning trophy cabinet, beat out competition from a number of other star performers over the course of the last month.
Amongst them were the likes of Chelsea stalwart Antonio Rudiger, Watford wide-man Ismaila Sarr, and Newcastle United standout Allan Saint-Maximin.
It was another member of the POTM shortlist being overlooked, though, which evidently irked those of a Liverpool persuasion on Friday.
The man in question? Mohamed Salah.
Taking to social media this evening, the Reds faithful made crystal clear their frustration with the fact that Ronaldo, and not their side’s star man, ultimately emerged as the Premier League’s best for September:
Ronaldo d¤esn’t deserve to be named Premier League Player of the Month cos Mo Salah truly ¤utclassed him in performance; Mo has been on fire since the season started. Players should be given due credit; The favourit!sm & polit!cs in football nowadays is alarming.

Salah genuinely robbed

POTM for 3 tap-ins, in 2 games, that inspired Man Utd to 4th place. Nice one 👍

So that’s the standard we’re going with here? A 2 goal debut at the beginning of the month and only one goal since? Meanwhile Salah has been an impact performer in every game he’s been in this month.
