Newcastle takeover completed
After 14 years of Mike Ashley, Newcastle finally said goodbye to the Sports Direct owner on Thursday.
The Magpies have been bought out by the SAPIF, PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media, with an official announcement having arrived on October 7th:
🤝 An investment group led by the Public Investment Fund, and also comprising PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media, has completed the acquisition of 100% of Newcastle United Limited and Newcastle United Football Club Limited from St. James Holdings Limited.

On the back of this development, it has since been revealed that Newcastle’s new owners boast wealth worth well over 10 times that of Manchester City’s current owners.
It has also been suggested that the Magpies will be able to spend over £200 million over the next three years, without breaching Financial Fair Play rules.
Conte’s stance on Newcastle job
With Newcastle now seemingly the richest club in world football and a fair chunk of change available to spend without breaking FFP, it is of course expected that the Magpies are set to spend big over the coming months and potentially replace their manager.
Speculation has already begun to swirl over Steve Bruce’s future. At the time of writing, Roberto Martinez and Antonio Conte are the top two favourites to be the North East outfit’s next manager.
And now, as per the Daily Star, Antonio Conte’s stance on reports linking him with the Newcastle United job has been revealed.
However, the Star, citing the Sun, claim Conte would likely reject any approach from the Magpies in favour of a role at a club that are already in a position to challenge for titles.
Newcastle’s top target
Elsewhere, Newcastle’s top target has been revealed following their takeover.
As per Football Insider, Newcastle plan to make Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly their first marquee signing, with a source believed to have told Football Insider that top of the Newcastle’s target list will be Koulibaly.
