Cristiano Ronaldo eager to link up with former Juventus teammate, would he fit in at Man United?

Cristiano Ronaldo is said to be keen to bring a former Juventus teammate to Manchester United, according to reports stemming from Italy.

Ronaldo wants Chiesa

That man, according to the Daily Star citing Italian outlet Calciomercato, is Federico Chiesa.

Chiesa made a name for himself in Italy with Fiorentina. He has since been snapped up by Juventus on a two-year loan, which ends at the close of the current season.

It is believed that Juventus have an obligation to buy interested into their deal for Chiesa, which is set at €40m.

Chiesa has since featured 50 times for the Italian powerhouse, scoring 16 and assisting 11 in the process.

And, according to the Daily Star:

Cristiano Ronaldo wants Manchester United to fork out for his old Juventus buddy – but it would set them back by Β£85m.

It is added that Ronaldo is a huger admirer of the Italian and wants to get him on board at Old Trafford.

Would Chiesa fit in at Man United?

Where, though, would the 23-year-old fit in at Manchester United currently?

Chiesa is a pretty versatile player and has been used all across the frontline throughout his career.

His most prominent positions, however, are right-wing and then left-wing.

And, at Manchester United, they have just spent big on the 21-year-old Jadon Sancho. Sancho is naturally a right-winger and is expected to play there most of the time at United.

Outside of Sancho, Mason Greenwood has also been pretty successful from the right, even though he is a striker.

On the left, meanwhile, Marcus Rashford is still clearly United’s main left-winger, with Sancho and Anthony Martial also able to play there.

So, unless Ole Gunnar Solskjaer plans to bench Rashford and or Sancho on regular basis, the move for Chiesa does seem slightly odd.
