Newcastle takeover is complete
On Thursday afternoon, the news that Newcastle fans desperately wanted to hear finally broke. Mike Ashley, for 14 years the scourge of the football club, had been released from his ownership of the North-East club, and instead the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund had taken over as new owners.
🤝 An investment group led by the Public Investment Fund, and also comprising PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media, has completed the acquisition of 100% of Newcastle United Limited and Newcastle United Football Club Limited from St. James Holdings Limited.

Now backed by the richest owners in World football, but sitting in the relegation zone without a win, the Magpies are sure to be spending money in January in order to avoid a somewhat humiliating relegation to England’s second tier.
And that is exactly what is expected.
Burnley defender “expected” to be their first signing
As per an exclusive report in Telegraph Sport, one of those incomings in January is expected to be Burnley defender James Tarkowski. The Englishman has just 10 months left to run on his deal at Turf Moor, and while previous advances from West Ham were rebuffed, he is thought to be set on a move to Tyneside.

As per the report:
The player would like to join Newcastle and is waiting to see whether the two clubs can reach an amicable agreement.
With Newcastle in dire need of reinforcements, Tarkowski would likely begin a spree of spending on Premier League proven acquisitions, with Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard another name linked with the North East club in the report.
Would he help them escape relegation?
