Ferran Torres’ Manchester City stint
Manchester City would sign Ferran Torres from Valencia last August.
Torres proved something of a fringe player during his first season with City, unsurprising given his age, the fact that it marked his first in the Premier League, and the sheer competition for places at the Etihad, particularly in the attacking areas.
Despite all of this, though, the 21-year-old still featured 36 times for City, racking up an impressive 13 goals and providing three assists.
Torres would then hit the ground running this season. Amid Man City’s failure to sign a striker over the summer, Pep Guardiola opted to start playing the Spaniard in a false-nine role.
Torres looked impressive in this role during the opening few weeks of the campaign, including vs Arsenal when he scored twice and provided one assist.
Torres makes Cristiano Ronaldo claim
However, Torres has since suffered an injury that currently sees him sidelined.
Now, whilst on the road to recovery, Torres has been discussing Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo and his impact on nutrition.
The City star claimed that Ronaldo is his reference point and that he has changed football when it comes to nutrition:
“(He) is my point of reference. He has changed football in terms of nutrition, taking care of yourself, investing in your body.
“This is a long-term process in which what you do today has repercussions for tomorrow. Football is more physical, and you have to be prepared.
“You have to play and have a team behind you that takes care of you. There are a lot of games and trips that can weigh you down. I like them to be on top of me to deliver.
“I have a personal trainer, then my physio as well. They are in contact with the club, and they are a supplement for me. They are in full contact with me every day at all times.”
