Marc Marquez and his brother Alex will be conducting the COTA timesheets at Saturday’s final practice at Americas MotoGP, the first completely dry session of the weekend.
Damp, who led the Old Ducati top five in the Friday afternoon session, was the fastest in the 30 minutes to reach an advantage in the 0.440s over the Gresini Rider Alex.
However, while Marquez’s brothers have been most sessions so far, this season has been a third and fourth surprise from Tech3 KTM’s Maverick Venares (Aprilia’s COTA winner last year) and Honda’s Joan Mir.
Marquez’s teammate Francesco Bagnaia jumped to the second half of the top 10, in fifth place.
Bagnaia was the preferred choice this morning to spend the sessions in soft rear.
Luca Marini backed up Mir’s speed ahead of Yamaha’s Fabio Cartalaro and then VR46 riders Fabio di Giannantonio and Franco Morbidelli.
KTM’s Pedro Acosta, who was turned over with Vinares, completed the top 10 on Friday as a threat to Marquez.
Rookie Ai Ogura crashed in the 5-minute opening of FP2, while Acosta and Alex Marquez hugged each other and waved their hands for the next Jack Miller-Session Mid Session.
