Marc Marquez celebrates his 100th pole position during the qualifying round of the Ducati House 2025 Italian Motogpu in Muguero.
The title leader set up a new lap record, led by his younger brother Alex on the opening qualifying run.
However, it’s not enough for injured Monster Yamaha rider Fabio Cartalaro and then Francesco Bagnaia to lower a new record at the start of the final run.
However, Marquez responded with a 1M 44.169S, edging teammates and ruler Mugero’s winner Bagnaia in 0.059 seconds.
Alex Marquez completed the front row and Quartarao was pushed down to the head of row 2.
Practice leader Maverick Vinall recovered the second half of the Tech3 KTM, ahead of Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Di Giannantonio’s VR46 Ducatis.
Aprilia’s Marco Betzecki suffered a one-lap disappointment and was left in 10th place.
Fermin Aldeguer and Raul Fernandez reached the second quarter by leading qualifying one, but people like Jack Miller missed the cut.
The 11-lap MotoGP sprint will begin at 3pm local time.
Rookie Ai Ogra is back in action after missing Aragon due to a Silverstone leg injury.
HRC’s Luca Marini is again absent from the track due to multiple injuries while testing a superbike at Suzuki in Japan – but exists as an audience.
The Marini will be replaced by Honda Test Rider Takaki Nakagami.
Aprilia’s test rider Lorenzo Sabadri has been replaced once again by world champion Jorge Martin, who was injured in Prilia.
The all-time top speed record of 227.5mph/366.1km/h was set by Brad Binder at the 2023 Mugello Sprint and coincided with fellow KTM rider Pol Espargaro (as a wild card) during practice last year.
