Marc Marquez is making his brother Alex better to lead Lusail’s 2025 Qatar Motogue swell-up final practice.
World Championship leader Alex fell to turn 15 in the opening five minutes and lost valuable track time when he had to abandon Gresini Ducati.
However, he returned to defeat Mark with his new medium rear tires. #93 responded with his old medium to lead 0.232.
A near-universal choice in both Qatar races last year, Medium Ria remains a favorite of tonight’s sprint.
However, some riders, especially those struggling on Friday, could roll the dice and run a new, stiff soft rear.
Yamaha’s Fabio Quartaralo, LCR’s Johann Zarco, KTM riders Pedro Acosta and Maverick Venares and Gresini’s rookie Fermin Aldeguer used the soft to fill the third-7th place this afternoon.
Cota winner Francesco Bagnaia was 11th in the mid-sized tires that ran the race distance.
Qualifying 1, Friday evening, starting now for people outside the top 10, including Alex Lyns, Joan Mir, Luca Marini, Marco Betzecchi and Jorge Martin.
Martin is making his Aprilia Grand Prix debut this weekend after missing out on the opening of the three rounds due to multiple fractures, including a complicated injury to his left wrist.
Despite Martin’s comeback, the 2025 MotoGP grid remains incomplete, with Yamaha test rider August Fernandez serving as his second replacement for Pramac-injured Miguel Oliveira.
The unique Qatar Night Race timetable means that the daily opening motogup track session will take place in bright sunlight, with evening sessions being held under floodlights at cool temperatures.
