As it could be their first move after a potential promotion to the Premier League, Leeds United and the 49ers are reportedly aiming to sign a loan to one particular reinforcement team.

Loan moves turning to Leeds and the 49ers

As is often the case, the championship campaign remains in the balance heading into the final two months as Leeds, Burnley and Sheffield United compete for automatic promotions.

As things stand, it is the people of Elland Road who sweat the most after a 2-2 draw with the Queens Park Rangers. With eight games, Daniel Fark will simply be desperate to win his side above the line.

He’s worth £20 million: Leeds already sells an alternative to “unbelievable” Fapo

Leeds United have made the mistake of selling a player that could replace Junior Furpo.

Failure to achieve a second promotion under Farke could result in another talent leaving the country in a repetition of last summer. Promotions, meanwhile, can inspire the start of summer and remind you whether white people are on and off the pitch and doing things right.

On that front, many potential targets have been mentioned in recent weeks, but one name has been kept prominent. According to Graeme Bailey via Leeds United News, the 49ers and Leeds are planning a move to sign Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City this summer.

The midfielder has been increasingly desperate for a fresh start since completing his move to Manchester City in 2022, and at least he has been able to get a reunion of Elland Road.

Following the mixed spell of loans in Ipswichtown, a return to where he was at his best may provide Phillips with the answer he longs for in pursuit of returning to the player he was in West Yorkshire.

“Fantastic” Phillips requires a Leeds return

Of all the moves made this summer, Phillips’ chances of returning to Leeds are one of the most reasonable things if he achieves promotion this season. The midfielder desperately needs a return – perhaps more than he needs to – and was able to quickly reward Fark with his vast Premier League experience.

Showing a glimpse of his quality at Portman Road this season, Kieran McKenna has sometimes praised Phillips, telling reporters early in his move. “Like I said when he arrived, he’s following a path that’s very similar to many of our players. He’s climbed the mountains. He’s done great things in his career.

“He went from a player who went to the Premier League to attack the Premier League and became part of a newly declared team who did great things in that division, doing anything he did in four, five or six seasons in the Championship.”

Leeds, which reportedly won £8 million a year, will certainly need to negotiate a margin with Manchester City and make the move, but they should still work hard to complete this summer.
