Speculation has grown in recent weeks as to who will replace Ruben Amorim at Manchester United if his tenure does not go as planned.
Among the names mentioned by pundits and tabloids is Thomas Tuchel, an experienced German manager known for his stints at Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea.
However, according to The Sun, United have decided not to feature Tuchel.
The club reportedly have no intention of pursuing the 52-year-old should Amorim leave, denying that he is in the running to replace him.
Thomas Tuchel has achieved great success
Given Tuchel’s pedigree and recent track record as a manager, it’s no wonder his name has cropped up in rumors of being linked with the Old Trafford star.
The German coach led Chelsea to victory in the 2021 Champions League, with the team defeating Manchester City in the final.
With United’s poor performances and public knowledge that they are under pressure, Tuchel was seen as a viable option to bring order and experience to a club desperate for stability.
Another thing to note is that Mr. Amorim remains solidly supported, at least publicly. United have given no indication that a change is imminent, and this report about Tuchel may also be aimed at quelling media speculation and reassuring the stability of the club’s leadership.
Manchester United have faith in Ruben Amorim
However, the Red Devils have other ideas in mind. In a recent interview, Sir Jim Ratcliffe confirmed his decision to support Amorim at the club, saying he believes the Portuguese manager deserves a third year at Old Trafford.
It remains to be seen whether that will be the case, given that some results against United could change opinions and the noise from the fans could increase.
Tuchel is reportedly not one of the options the club is considering at this time.
Recent names include Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner and Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola, both of whom have made a huge impact in English football since their arrival.
