Liverpool won a narrow victory over West Ham United in today’s Premier League, with Dio Gojota putting another ineffective display on his side.
At 28, Portugal International had a disappointing season this year. He struggles with poor shape and injuries. Despite being handed over the opportunity to oppose today’s hammer, Portugal International was unable to make the most of the opportunity.
Jota struggled in front of the goal and he barely helped create opportunities for teammates. Liverpool’s attacker also lost the ball in six times, and he was in vain for his death. Jota completed just 67% of his passes against West Ham.
Diogo Jota needs to be replaced
Portugal International has failed inspiringly in recent weeks, and it is clear that he is no longer enough to start for Liverpool. Teams who want to win the league title and the Champions League should set a higher goal. It will be interesting to see if Liverpool can properly replace him during the summer transfer period. For the rest of the season, Arne Slot should consider giving Darwinnes or Cody Gakupo even more opportunities in a central role.
Not only did Jota not score consistently, but his overall contributions were also rather mediocre. Perhaps a spell that gets in the spotlight can do well with him and help him regain confidence and sharpness. He scored only once in the club and the country’s final ten outings.
The 28-year-old has been a useful servant for Liverpool since joining them from the wolves, but this seems to be a time when the club deserves to kick him out in the summer and replace him with a younger and better alternative.
