Then, at the second T20I, Zimbabwe won the toss and chose to bowl first. The bowlers made the most of their decision and ran through Sri Lankan batting units.
From the beginning, Zimbabwean bowlers ruled and made life difficult for visitors on Saturday, September 6th. There was nothing on the pitch, but the Lancan batsmen struggled and the visitors’ innings ended on the 18th.
Kusal Mendis, Pathum nissanka, Nuwanidu Fernando, Kamil Mishara and Kamindu Mendis came within seven overs. Dasun Shanaka then collapsed on the 13th, with the fourth ball in the 18th, with Maheesh Theekshana coming out as the final wicket, and Sri Lanka bowling on 80 runs.
For visitors, Kamil Mishara (20), Chalis Asaranka (18) and Dasun Shanaka (15) scored double-digit runs, while Brad Evans and Sikandal Raza each took three wickets for the hosts, which Muzarabani and Shaun Williams also congratulate.
Sri Lanka has recorded the second lowest total in T20I cricket
The Lancan Lions registered the second lowest total in format by putting out all 80 minutes. It was also the lowest T20I on everyone’s side against Zimbabwe.
The lowest ever score registered by Sri Lanka in T20I cricket was held on June 3, 2024 against South Africa in New York. In particular, Sri Lanka’s 80 all-outs are also the lowest team total in Harare.
Sri Lanka’s lowest T20I score:
77 vs New York South Africa (June 3, 2024)
Harare’s 80 vs Zimbabwe (September 6, 2025)
82 vs Vishapatnam India (February 14, 2016)
Bridgetown 87 vs Australia (May 9, 2010)
87 vs. Cuttak India (December 20, 2017)
91 vs Southampton England (June 26, 2021)
After bundling the visitors, Zimbabwean pacer congratulated Muzarabani and said that in the innings the wind helped them very well and they made the most of the conditions. He said:
“I think the winds have made good use of the conditions for us and everyone. We just wanted to be tight. Everyone who came and bowled us stuck to one plan. We need to respect bowling, respect the bat well and hopefully reach our target.”
