The Boston Celtics are trying to survive without Jayson Tatum.
The Boston Celtics superstar is expected to miss the rest of the year due to a torn right Achilles tendon.
Meanwhile, the Celtics have had an up-and-down season. They are no longer the dominant Celtics team they were in the past.
Through 13 games at the beginning of this year, his batting average has been hovering around .500 with six wins and seven losses.
One Celtics player who has struggled this season is Peyton Pritchard.
Does Nico Harrison deserve to be fired?
The guard came off the bench last season and won the Sixth Man of the Year award. This season, Pritchard’s numbers as a starter have declined.
He had a big performance in the win against the Memphis Grizzlies, with 24 points, 9 assists, and 6 rebounds.
However, overall shooting success rate has decreased. Jeff Teague called Pritchard out due to his poor start.
“You know who’s having a rough year this year, Peyton Pritchard.
“Obviously not. We gave him a lot of love last year and said he could do the same thing better as a starter. I think we were wrong.”
“He played better coming off the bench last year.”
Pritchard played in 13 games this season, averaging 15.3 points, 5.2 assists, and 4.0 rebounds while shooting 42.9% from the field and 28.1% from 3-point range.
Compared to last season, Pritchard averaged 14.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.5 assists while shooting 47.2 percent from the field and 40.7 percent from 3-point range.
His scoring average as a starter has increased slightly, which makes sense given the increased playing time, but his shooting percentage has dropped significantly.
The Celtics are on a gap year with Jaylen Brown despite being the No. 1 option.
As it stands, the Celtics are not expected to compete for a championship this year and are awaiting the return of Jayson Tatum and re-preparing for next season.
