Quentin Grimes has been making a big splash since it was traded with the Philadelphia 76ers.
The Philadelphia 76ers 2024-25 ended effectively. Joel Embiid was shut down like Paul George after a disappointing first campaign.
Since then, Quentin Grimes has made the most of his opportunities as a team star man.
The Grimes, acquired by the Dallas Mavericks to Philadelphia, transformed from a serviceable role player to a star, averaging 21.4 points, with 5.5 boards and 3.8 assists, averaged 21.4 points.
And this only amplifies many criticism of Mavs GM Nico Harrison following the stunning Luka Donchic blockbuster.
After getting hot in his first few games, the Grimes achieved a career-high. After a major 44-point performance, he tracked it down with a career-high 46-point explosion against the Houston Rockets.
As the 76ers move to meet title expectations during a roller coaster season plagued by injuries and disappointments, the Grimes offers much-needed relief as one of the lonely bright spots.
The Grimes are so good that NBA fans are wild in his recent form wearing the Philadelphia uniform.
But nonetheless, former Six player Patrick Beverly has voiced doubt on whether he can pull it apart under victory circumstances, as he has not bought the sudden hype that Grimes is flashing.
“For teams that don’t make the playoffs, it’s easy to play well,” the veteran guard said on his PAT BEV podcast.
“Okay, I feel good when there’s no pressure behind you.
“Quentin Grimes was with the Dallas Mavericks, but did we not hear from him?
“I love what he does. I love how he posts points on the board, but can you do that on a winning team? That’s my challenge.”
Embiid and George appear for the rest of the season, and Grimes tastes the green light to go out for Coach Nick Nurse. And it appears that Philadelphia has not made the mistake of giving him a chance, as he has thrived since landing on their side in February.
Whether the Grimes maintain his impressive run with the 76ers is yet to be known as they are about to face this important offseason. He is set to become a free agent who will encourage the NBA star to re-sign and build around him.
It’s great to see players score big points and no matter what the future holds, we’re pleased that Grimes is enjoying the best basketball of his young career. No matter where he lands in 2025-26, it’s up to him to keep it.
